If you binge-watched the hit South Korean series Parasyte: The Grey, you might be wondering who the mysterious cameo was at the end of episode 6. Well, Shinichi Izumi is the crux Parasyte lore.
The Netflix K-Drama is about unidentified parasitic life forms that live off human hosts and strive to grow their power. As they start to disrupt society, a group of humans wage war against the rising evil. The show stars Jeon So-nee, Koo Kyo-hwan, and Lee Jung-hyun and is directed by Train To Busan director Yeon Sang-ho.
“Yeon has created a universe of his own marked by his uninhibited and awe-inspiring imagination. Given his incisive insight into human nature when people are faced with chaotic world order, many are curious to see how he will translate the world portrayed in Parasyte with Korean twist,” Netflix said in a press release.
The series introduces new characters that are not in the manga, live-adaption movies, or anime. In fact, the series takes place in South Korea while the OG takes place in Japan. The two don’t seem to correspond with each other until the last two minutes of season 1, where Shinichi Izumi approaches The Grey team and Choi Jun-kyung.
Who is Shinichi Izumi in Parasyte?
Shinichi Izumi is the main protagonist of the Parasyte manga series. His character is introduced in the live-action TV series as an expert in parasites. At the start of the manga series, Izumi’s character is 17 years-old and is attached to by Migi, a parasite. In the manga and anime series, he dealt with the throes of hiding his condition while also trying to fight parasites who think he’s a threat.
In the last final seconds of Parasyte: The Grey, Shinichi holds up his right hand alluding to Migi, who might reawaken for the live-action spin off.
Will Parasyte: The Grey have a season 2?
Season 2 of Parasyte: The Grey has not been announced yet. However, due to the introduction of Shinichi in the series could open up many doors for the possibilites for the future.
