Kim Kardashian’s Red Hair Makes Her Look Like a Scene Kid

If there’s one thing Kim Kardashian knows how to do, it’s fry her hair. She’s gone through so many different hair colors in such a short period of time, I’m surprised she has any hair left. And even with so many different looks on her resume, Kim Kardashian’s red hair is a huge departure from her usual hair. I know better by now than to believe she’ll stick by this color for longer than a few hours, but at least she’s feeding us with more hair color inspo.

Last month, Kim went from blonde to pink in less than 48 hours. And after seemingly chopping off all her hair in an Instagram post, fans thought her colored hair era was over for good. But of course, Kim couldn’t stay away from the salon chair for too long. Now, she’s most likely sporting extensions or wigs (I really hope so for the sake of her hair), and she’s back to business as usual.

For her Vogue China cover, Kim debuted not one, but three different hair colors. She wore her signature 2008 black hair (RIP, bring it back please) and what seems to be her personal favorite—silver hair. But the true show stopper was her dark hair with fire red highlights. The look, unlike Kim’s usual hair colors, features a bright red color and unmistakably chunky scene highlights. And as powerhouse Margaret Zhang’s final cover as Vogue China’s editor-in-chief, I didn’t expect anything less.

I know scene hair when I see it, and this red hair look was definitely inspired by the scene kid era of the internet. Black and red is a classic scene/emo color combo, and chunky highlights are even more on brand for the aesthetic. Everyone knows that the 2010’s are back, so naturally this kind of hairstyle could’ve easily flown under the radar as just another editorial hair look, but we know better. Kim is giving off major “Rawr XD” vibes—next time, let’s hope she has the teased hair and obnoxious side bang to match.
