The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is back from its hiatus, and some of the most famous names in the brand’s history are getting ready to take the runway once again in the 2024 show. One name, however, who will not be joining the numerous returning Angels? Brazilian Gisele Bündchen.
Bündchen, a Victoria’s Secret Angel from 1999 until 2006, is one of the biggest names not returning for this year’s show. The lineup for the 2024 Fashion Show includes superstars like Tyra Banks, returning to the runway for the first time in almost 20 years, alongside names like Gigi Hadid, Paloma Elsesser, Imaan Hammam, Candice Swanepoel, Grace Elizabeth, Taylor Hill, Mayowa Nicholas, Devyn Garcia, Barbara Palvin, Behati Prinsloo, Ashley Graham, Jasmine Tookes, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio and more.

It’s been a while since Bündchen has been on a runway, but the Brazilian model did participate in the brand’s 2023 Icons campaign, alongside names such as Naomi Campbell, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Emily Ratajkowski, Paloma Elsesser, Jill Kortleve, and Adut Akech.
So, why is Bündchen not back for the 2024 edition, which will feature so many returning stars? Or will she be in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show?
Why isn’t Gisele Bündchen in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show?
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has promised a few surprises, but as far as we know Gisele Bündchen isn’t one of them. The official Instagram account for Victoria’s Secret has been unveiling the biggest names returning to the show in the past few days, with no sign of Bündchen, the type of star they would make sure to announce beforehand. Plus, there is also the fact that Bündchen isn’t strictly retired, but she doesn’t really do runways anymore.
“I never said I would retire, just that I would no longer do runways,” she even said in an interview with O Globo earlier this year. Instead, Bündchen appeared to want to focus on other types of work. “I will never stop working. My desire is to continue creating until the day I die. I love the creativity that exists within me, I want to learn new things,” she also told the Brazilian newspaper.

Among the new things in Bündchen’s life is her newfound success as a writer. In 2018, she topped Brazil’s non-fiction charts for over six months with her memoir titled Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life. In March 2024, she released a cookbook titled: Nourish: Simple Recipes to Empower Your Body and Feed Your Soul: A Healthy Lifestyle Cookbook. So, even without the Victoria’s Secret runway, Bündchen is staying pretty busy.
When is the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show?
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will take place on October 15 in New York City, starting at 7:00 PM ET. Cher is set to headline the show as the musical guest, leading an all-women lineup of performers, which includes Tyla and Lisa.
The brand will be streaming the show live on its social media channels, including Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is also set to air on Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Live and will be free for Amazon customers in the U.S. on the Amazon Live channel.
