Gisele Bundchen Responds to Tom Brady Roast, Joaquim Valente Jokes

The comedy roast is supposed to be one of America’s great traditions, taking successful people down a peg or two with a well-intentioned barrage of funny insults. But Gisele Bundchen’s response to Tom Brady’s roast, wherein jokes were made at her expense, was understandable.

As you probably know, Tom and Gisele had been married for 13 years before announcing their split and People confirmed on October 28, 2022, that Tom and Gisele filed for divorce. “The settlement is all worked out,” the insider said. “They’ve been working on the terms this whole time.” The source continued: “They agreed to joint custody of the kids.”

On Netflix’s Roast of Tom Brady, comedians Kevin Hart and Jeff Ross took aim at the athlete via his ex-wife in arguably distasteful, arguably sexist, jokes about her dating life and her new boyfriend, Joaquim Valente. (As far as we’re concerned, it’s not fair game if she’s not there to defend herself.)

“Tom, you f—cked your coach, but let me tell you something, people…that’s what you’ve got to do to maintain your happiness. You sometimes got to f—ck your coach. You know who else f—cked their coach? Gisele. She f—cked that karate man,” Hart said.

Later, he quipped: “One of the smartest quarterbacks ever played a game. How did you not see this coming? Eight f—cking karate classes a day.…Eight karate classes a day and she’s still a white belt. F—ck Tom. The only bruises she had were on her a—. Everybody should have known it.” Meanwhile, Ross joked: “[Tom has] so many rings he could melt them down and forge a sword to go on a quest to get Gisele back from that jiujitsu teacher.”

According to sources quoted in People, Gisele was “deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family on Sunday evening’s roast show.” The source added, “As always, [Bündchen’s] priority is to support her children who were affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcasted.”

Interestingly, Tom was unaffected by the jokes about his ex-wife, but one did cross the line and it was about Robert Kraft, the CEO of the New England Patriots where Tom was first drafted in 2000. “So Tom became a Patriot,” Ross said, “moved up to New England and on the first day of training camp, that scrawny rookie famously walked into the owner Robert Kraft’s office and said, ‘I’m the best decision your organization has ever made. Would you like a massage?’”

The joke was a reference to Kraft being arrested in 2019 on charges of soliciting sex from a prostitute during an encounter at a Florida day spa. He pleaded not guilty, and the charges were dropped the following year. Tom was visibly uncomfortable with the joke, shifting in his seat then walked up to Ross to tell him ‘‘Don’t say that sh—t again,’’ into his ear, but loud enough so that the microphones could pick it up.
