Blame the pandemic but I’ve become quite the master chef lately. We still eat out a lot as we love trying new restaurants, different foods, etc…but as the weather gets colder I find I like to cook at home which is surprising because for years I was able to successful burn boiling water and that was about the extent of my skills in the kitchen. When the pandemic forced us to stay home I took some virtual online cooking classes, started buying gadgets and gizmos for my kitchen, and suddenly found myself making some of my fav dishes like coq au vin, ratatouille, porco alentejana, and even mushroom risotto (I once burned an entire pan trying to recreate my fav mushroom risotto dish at home!) at home. It was rather delightful learning all these dishes and making mistakes time and time again while learning but perfecting them after many tries.
No one told me I’d become obsessed with kitchen gadgets in my older issue but here we are. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with the Drew Barrymore Beautiful Appliances (I have a love hate relationship with her stuff but that’s a story for another day!) available at Walmart. I’ll be in Europe for Thanksgiving this year but I did haul the Beautiful 2qt Slow Cooker 2 Pack for myself to use for Christmas dinners and parties. I think I’d have made a TON of use out of it for Thanksgiving but since we won’t be home for that I’ll def use it for Christmas gatherings. It’s $15 bucks a two pack! I thought it would be cool to use to melt chocolate for my dessert bar or even do hot dips! You can’t beat the price. I thought I could even use it for soap as well! My boyfriend does volunteer programming classes for kids once week and gets in a bit later on that day so I tend to not do much for dinner aside from soap and a little slice of toast or some crackers. I thought this would be perfect for me on those days!
Anyway, I thought I’d share. It’s not really beauty related but if you somehow, someway became a master chef (or maybe you’re already one) during the pandemic you might want to add these to your stash of kitchen gizmos and gadgets.
P.S. By the very way, did anyone see the Hearth and Home Nugget Ice Maker on sale at Target? I’m dying to get it! My fridge does regular ice and crushed out but not nugget! UGH!
