Rhodes Skin launched a new, limited-edition Pocket Blush today called Sprinkle. I sort of wished it would sell out fast because I was on the fence about wanting it. Rhodes Sprinkle Pocket Blush was a NARS Orgasm-like shade with warm pearly pink which sounded right up my alley. But I have SO many shades like this and I questioned if I needed it. Honestly, if it was free shipping for that blush alone I’d have dove in but the threshold is $45. And here’s the thing…! I like Rhodes Skin. A lot of people aren’t into it and right it off as another celebrity brand. And I get it, we’re all sort of on celebrity fatigue mode. But the skincare from Rhodes Skin is quite good and I really love her Lip Tints a little too much!
So, here was my problem…! I had my cart loaded up with a ton of stuff when Sprinkles dropped because I felt inclined to get free shipping. But also, I started browsing the Lip Tints and ended up with two I don’t have plus a blush duo and it was getting crazy. Thankfully, I missed Sprinkles because I was busy being indecisive whether or not I needed all the stuff in my cart. And guess what? That’s ok that I missed.
I’m trying more and more to quote the FOMO beast that marketing creates and I’m succeeding. Because Makeup FOMO is a real thing and social media and brands are utterly guilty of making us feel it!
Sure, I missed the drop but it’s not the end of the world. And chances are the shade will come back in or they’ll do another shade just like it. Or some other brands will release a shade just like it. In the makeup word “limited-edition” has no value anymore and it’s only re-released at some other time in the future or someone else ends up duping it. I mean, look at Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette that’s a perfect lesson right? Gone but not forgotten and now back from the makeup graveyard!
I missed out on Rhodes Sprinkle Pocket Blush and that’s ok. I’ll live to see another makeup release. What are some LE drops you’ve missed that you’ve made me peace with? Do share!
