The Family Fun Show “Wild N’ Out” has long been a source of entertainment, providing audiences with laughter through its Rap Battles and Improv Skits on a weekly basis. However, a new program titled “Bad Vs. Wild” has emerged, leading to confusion regarding any potential connections between the two shows.
On February 3rd, Viacom initiated legal action against NCredible Entertainment, owned by comedian Nick Cannon, as well as The Zeus Network and other parties involved in the production of “Bad Vs. Wild.” This development raises questions about Cannon’s transition from his successful show “Wild N’ Out” to this new venture. Cannon first introduced “Wild N’ Out” to audiences on July 28th, 2005, showcasing a blend of comedy, rap battles, improv, and engaging games, serving as the show’s face for 15 seasons.
However, following the summer of 2020, Viacom severed ties with Cannon due to his controversial remarks and hate speech on his podcast, as reported by BBC.com. In 2024, Cannon collaborated with The Zeus Network to create “Bad Vs. Wild,” which, while sharing some game show elements with “Wild N’ Out,” is characterized by a more aggressive and violent tone. Unlike the family-friendly atmosphere of “Wild N’ Out,” which focused on comedy and audience participation, “Bad Vs. Wild” incorporates more explicit content and physical confrontations during its games. Despite the differing themes of the two shows, Viacom contends that they bear significant similarities, even extending to their logos.
The network has labeled “Bad Vs. Wild” as an “unlawful copy” of “Wild N’ Out,” asserting that it tarnishes the latter’s reputation by promoting harmful stereotypes and offensive material. The promotional materials for “Bad Vs. Wild,” which include provocative titles such as “Lightskin vs. Darkskin,” have sparked outrage among viewers for perpetuating colorism stereotypes. As the legal situation unfolds, Cannon may find himself facing serious repercussions, and only time will reveal the outcome of this controversy.
