You know you’re only get the a real, honest review from me when it comes to Kayali Yum Boujee Marshmallow Eau de Parfum Intense don’t you? Because lord knows I’ve been burnt by Kayali’s last few releases and it’s made me rather salty with them! Their incredible marketing really draws me in and when I get the actual fragrance it does NOT live up to all the flashy promotion they did for it. Not to mention Kayali has become an instant viral sensation on Tiktok with a lot of dishonest reviews or at least I find them very dishonest. When Yum Gelato was released I was absolutely enthralled and seduced by the perfume Tiktokers telling me it was the best gourmand they ever smelled in their entire life and it was the most unique fragrance ever. Turns out, it wasn’t that great.
And now we have the newest launched from Kayali which is Yum Boujee Marshmallow and I absolutely did not indulge in a full-size. Before it even launched a slew of people were reviewing it as the best gourmand, the sweetest, the most fluffiest, strawberry marshmallow milk perfection. All I could say to that was, “Yeah, right!”. I just didn’t trust anyone enough to blind buy this. So, I was an adult about it and I decided a travel-size would be a good way to go.
Guess what happened? I immediately went back for a full bottle after getting my travel-spray. Well, Kayali, you did it, you surprised and impressed me (sort of!). I love it. It’s beautiful! However, it’s getting a 3 out of 5 on my rating score card. But first let me tell you why I love it before I tell you the issues with it.
Kayali Yum Boujee Marshmallow is available in four sizes with the cheapest being the travel-spray at $29 and the most expensive is the 3.4 oz bottle for $138. I got the travels-spray the first day it launched and ended up going back in for the 3.4 oz bottle. I’d go so far as to say I’d buy another big bottle as a backup because I like it so much.
According to Kayali this is a gourmand scent with fluffy pink marshmallow, succulent strawberry, flaky coconut, delicate freesia, whipped vanilla, and pink musk. I rarely believe anything they say as most of the time I end up with some sort of weird patchouli note in their gourmands that I really don’t love. According to Kayali their scents include a “signature accord” mix that includes a blend of vanilla, tonka, praline, and musk. I do think that mix sometimes mucks up their fragrances from time to time. But in this case I can actually smell the vanilla, tonka, and some of the praline so, maybe it worked out with Yum Boujee Marshmallow.
What are the actual notes in Yum Boujee Marshmallow? Here’s a complete break down:
Top Notes: Pink Lady Apple, Italian Lemon, Freesia, Nectarine Blossom
Middle Notes: Orange Blossom Water, Pink Marshmallow, Strawberry, Coconut Flakes
Dry Notes: Whipped Vanilla, Raspberry Sugar, Pink Musk, Ambrox, KAYALI Signature Accord
Did you catch the orange blossom and marshmallow and instantly think Love, Don’t Be Shy? I know I did but this is actually way sweeter and different but I bet my life it’ll be amazing mixed with Love, Don’t Be Shy or other sweet fragrances. I do think the notes above at a lot more complex than what my nose picks up and that’s actually why I deducted points from my overall rating. It’s not the fluffy marshmallow you may want. I don’t even really smell a lot of marshmallow in the blend. I do smell sugary vanilla, a light dusting of cotton candy much like what I get from Sabrina Carpenter’s original Sweet Tooth Perfume, with strawberry, and a creamy bit of coconut. It sort of reminds me of what I imagine a Hostess Snowball would smell like but without the chocolate. You know, the rolled coconut flakes, the gooey marshmallow, and the pink sprinkly bits on top! I get a little hint of praline as well which adds warmth. It’s a light almost sugary strawberry cotton candy mix to my nose. I WISH there was a bit more marshmallow to it as I think that would really take it over the top. There’s a lot going on here but not as much as the notes imply. To me it’s the perfect balance of sugary, sweet, and fruity to warm, slightly fluffy, and comforting. I love it! And by the way, it not only layers well with the new EOS Strawberry Dream Shea Better Body Lotion and EOS Sparkling Amber and Whipped Shea & Sugar Body Lotion but it actually almost smells like the two of those combined!
Here’s the bad news…I could swear I read in the promo that it was “a layering fragrance” but now I can’t seem to find that in the descriptions online (the Eau de Parfum Intense is misleading in the name!) This stuff does NOT last! I think it’ll work amazing with a variety of scents for a layering tool but on its own nope, doesn’t last at all. I went to town with it and got in a good twenty sprays and its gone within two hours. I think it’ll smell amazing with fruity scents, sweet ones, vanilla ones. It’s light enough And that’s where the bad news comes into play and that may make it last longer but on its own even with body cream it wears away pretty fast which makes me so, so sad. Anyone that tells you they can get 6-8 hours of wear out of this (and I’ve heard a lot of that) is just flat out lying. It’s to light of a scent to wear for that long. That being said, I DO NOT regret purchasing a large bottle! It’s delicious.
Kayali Yum Boujee Marshmallow and I highly recommend checking out if you’re a gourmand lover. It’s a yay for me even though it has a few small issues! Tried it already? Please share your thoughts on it!
