I’m so lucky to be friends with master perfumers who send me samples of their latest creations! Laurie of Velvet and Sweet Pea’s Purrfumery is a sweetheart and a true animal lover. She shared with me her latest limited edition project, Pangolin Violette Rose. Laurie is giving a generous portion of the proceeds to the Pangolin Crisis Fund. Did you know pangolins are the world’s most trafficked mammal used for their meat and scales?
Pangolin Violette Rose has a dark, sexy, vintage feel. The parfum starts out very earthy – the aged sandalwood really comes through on top of the jasmine and candied violet. As the scent blooms, the rose and violet flower petals mingle with a touch of cocoa. As you head toward the base notes of Tamil Nadu, New Caledonia sandalwood, and orris, it takes on a more powdery feel. It’s a very complex scent and worthy of being a collector’s item. Truthfully, my nose isn’t trained enough yet to completely decode this blend. But, I will say, I feel like if the show, Peaky Blinders, had a signature scent, this would be it!
Laurie only uses natural ingredients (no synthetics) and many of her naturals have been aged for over 20 years, which helps deepen the scents and prevents buying over-harvested ingredients like vanilla and sandalwood. She uses organic, wildcrafted, or sustainably grown naturals whenever possible.
If your budget allows for this type of luxury fragrance, I highly recommend it. Not only will you feel like a female mob boss from 1920s Birmingham England…or perhaps an Egyptian goddess… when you wear it, you’ll also be helping to save the pangolins! Velvet and Sweet Pea’s Purrfumery is Leaping Bunny certified cruelty free.
You won’t be able to get this exact size. Laurie sent it to me for review purposes. But you can get a solid or liquid limited edition parfum with prices ranging from $95 – $750.
All orders from Velvet and Sweet Pea’s Purrfumery will include a free sample of Pangolin Violette Rose. So remember that when you shop!
