When Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce confirmed they were together, many fans believed she’d found The One. But a supposed “contract” between the two has “leaked”, allegedly detailing their relationship’s manufactured nature and the exact date of their breakup.
The Daily Mail picked up the story about the supposed legal document, seemingly produced by Los Angeles-based firm Full Scope, which provides an outline of how to handle the couple’s split in the public sphere. It was first published on Reddit where you can read two pages of the alleged document in full (but we’ve replicated here so you don’t need to.)
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s breakup contract revealed
The purpose of the document is “To effectively manage and mitigate the fallout from the breakup between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, ensuring Travis Kelce retains a positive public image, minimizes negative media portrayal and continues to build his personal and professional brand,” the first page reads.
“Key messages: Respect and privacy. Emphasize that the breakup was a mutual decision made with respect for each other’s personal lives. Stress the importance of privacy during this period to allow both individuals to focus on their respective growth and careers.
Professional Focus. Highlight Kelce’s commitment to his career and his ongoing achievements to the sports industry. Showcase recent milestones, upcoming games, and his involvement in major sporting events.
Personal growth. Frame the breakup as a natural part of life and an opportunity for personal evolution. Share how Kelce is focusing on personal development, self-improvement, and resilience.”
The supposed document goes on to provide the date of their breakup announcement, September 28, with the following “advice” for how it should be handled in the media. “The statement should be gracious, respectful and stress mutual respect. Example: ‘Travis and Taylor have decided to part ways after careful consideration. They both value and respect each other’s personal lives and appreciate your respect for their privacy during this time. They are both committed to their careers and personal growth. They remain friends and with each other the best.’”
It also included “talking points” for interviews. “Travis is excited about the upcoming season and is working hard to bring his best to the field. Both Travis and Taylor respect each other and are focusing on their individual paths.”
The fact that the breakup was slated for September 28, and with the advice that Travis is “excited for the upcoming season” is a clue that this document is fake—by the time their “breakup” would be announced, the football season would already be in full swing.
Travis Kelce responds
Kelce’s legal team has threatened action over the papers they claim to be a forgery. “We have engaged our legal team to initiate proceedings against the individuals or entities responsible for the unlawful and injurious forgery of documents,” they told the Daily Mail in a statement.
