Bennifer is no more. Jennifer Lopez just filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on August 20, 2024. Though, the big question is: when did they actually break up?
Speculation about their breakup happened around April 2024. The couple hadn’t been seen together for weeks since March 2024. The rumors started when one source close to the couple said that their relationship was unfixable. “The writing is on the wall—it’s over,” an insider said to InTouch Weekly. “They’re headed for a divorce—and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame!”
In case you need a refresher on Bennifer lore, Ben and Jennifer married in April 2022 in a very intimate setting in Las Vegas, while they held a bigger pompous wedding at Ben’s estate in Georgia on August 20, 2022 (yes, the same day as their divorce). The two previously broke up in 2005 after they had another two-year-long relationship when they met in 2002 on the set of Gigil.
It’s a series of Déjà vu for sure, but this time things are looking pretty final. According to TMZ, Jennifer filed for divorce, pro per, or without a lawyer.
When did Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck break up?
Jennifer Lopez listed the date of their breakup on April 26, 2024. This was about a week before J-Lo co-hosted the Met Gala and attended the fundraiser solo.
Meanwhile, Ben had a very busy week too, as he appeared at The Roast of Tom Brady at the Forum in Inglewood, CA. The actor got a lot of lackluster responses from celebrities like Kevin Hart but continued to trudge through the event.
Where exactly was Jennifer Lopez on the day of the breakup?
Jennifer Lopez was seen in New York City on April 26, 2024. Paparazzi photos captured her looking very serious but somber. She was wearing sunglasses, a green sweater, baggy pants, and a large Birkin bag.
Was Ben Affleck with her?
Actually, Ben Affleck was on the opposite coast. In paparazzi photos published by TMZ, Ben was on his way for a late-night session at his Beverly Hills office. A couple days later, Ben was seen eating up Jack In The Box in his car. Pretty unorthodox for the Dunkin’ King, but we respect it.
