Why Prince William Wasn’t In Kate Middleton’s Cancer Announcement Video

After she made her poignant announcement about her health condition, many Royal fans might be wondering why Prince William wasn’t in Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis video. The Prince of Wales was noticeably absent from the video posted on Kensington Royal.

Addressing the concern, a source told The Telegraph, “This was her as a strong woman sharing an innately strong message to the nation. She didn’t need anyone sitting next to her. [William] has been supporting her and the family in the background.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales issued a joint statement regarding the ongoing support. “The Prince and Princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’ message,” read a Kensington Palace statement. “They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time.”

“I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I’ve been recovering from surgery,” the Princess of Wales said in a video posted by Kensington Palace. “It is being an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family. But I’ve had a fantastic medical team who’ve taken great care of me for which I’m so grateful.”

“The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

She also talked about the impact it had on her family. “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.”

She praised her husband William as “a great source of comfort and reassurance”, Kate added: “This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”
